Community Residency Positions
Description The Kroger Patient Care Center (KPCC) is an educational center that functions as an extension of the dispensing pharmacy. At the Patient Care Center, patients have the opportunity to meet with a pharmacist to discuss their current medications and disease states, learn about new treatment options and therapies, and schedule individual consultation appointments for disease state management. The Columbus KPCC was the 4th Community Pharmacy Residency site in the country. The Toledo KPPC was the 1st Community Pharmacy Residency sites for the University of Toledo.
The resident will participate in all aspects of Patient Care Center management including: the provision of direct patient care and screening services in the areas of MTM, immunizations, diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking cessation, hypertension, osteoporosis, and comprehensive counseling with a focus on medication compliance. The resident will also be involved in dispensing with a strong emphasis on patient counseling, marketing, and public relations with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals. The resident will plan and conduct his/her own practice-based research project and present this research at local, regional, and national meetings. The resident will help develop and market new, innovative patient care services as well as evaluate programs for continuous quality improvement and business impact. In addition, the resident will be encouraged to participate in ongoing projects and assist with the development of new programs and sites throughout Kroger.
Residency candidates are placed at the sites through the Ohio State University and University of Toledo.
